Matrices (Algebra 2)

Main points:

- Identity matrices only contains 0's and 1's.

- Matrices can be plugged into the calculator by following the steps above ( I'm using a TI-84). Press [2nd] [ Matrix] (Matrix should be under the math button on your calculator (if using a TI-84)

Next, use the side buttons to go to "edit" and press [1: [A] and enter. Then, enter in the dimensions of your matrix. This is by Row x Column so if you have three numbers vertically and four numbers horizontally, then enter in 3 x 4. Next plug in the numbers in your matrix by plugging in the numbers and pressing enter (it'll automatically move you to the next part of the matrix to fill out). After you are done plugging everything in, press [2nd] [quit] and you will end up in the main home screen. Then press [2nd] [matrix] and use the side arrow keys to move to "Math". Scroll down until you see "B rref(" and press that. Then it will take you back to the home screen. Finally, for the last time, do [2nd] [matrix] and under "Names", it should have your entry named "3x4" because those are the dimensions you have entered. Press that and it should be plugged into your rref on the home screen. Last thing to do is press enter and your answers should appear in the right column (right next to this ] end of the matrix). These are the steps to plugging a matrix into the calculator.
